Lead Process Engineer, Print Production

Summary

As a Lead Print Production Process Engineer, you will be responsible for will perform quality checks and performance qualifications of thin film printed electronics. You will carry out testing of thin film deposition in order to confirm that it meets quality standards and product specifications which allow the Company to legally market products both domestically and internationally.

Core Responsibilities

  • Screen printing duties include: 
    • Designing screen print patterns and preparing stencils
    • Mixing and loading screen inks
    • Printing final designs
    • Cleaning equipment and materials
    • Troubleshooting errors
    • Drying final printed biosensors.
  • Lead the creation of printing design pattern and artwork for scaled volume production.
  • Utilize various nano ink/paste deposition manufacturing methods (i.e., inkjet printing, aerosol printing, screen printing, electrodeposition, pick-and-place, lamination bonding, laser patterning etc.) to develop a scaled fabrication process for a nanomaterial-based biosensor IVDs.
  • Analyze current processes and review specifications to ensure that product is conforming to quality and user standards can be produced consistently. Suggest and/or implement specific process improvements (both short- and long-term projects) to improve and ensure all the following objectives are met:  productivity, machine and material efficiencies reduced.
  • Utilizes sound technical knowledge of materials, processes, techniques, and products to improve product performance to reduce costs, to maximize production, and to support new knowledge.
  • Undertake individual and team projects to explore quality and/or process problems and identify corrective action. Provide training and support to manufacturing during the implementation of new processes or equipment.
  • Leadership for mentoring, training and coaching of other Engineers and Technicians.
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to prototype printed sensor solutions and run experiments to achieve printed device deliverables.
  • Identify and purchase capital equipment used for the volume production process, including managing installation.
  • Prepare manufacturing documentation.
  • Support contract negotiations with equipment vendors, material suppliers and contract manufacturers.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support all applicable regulations including but not limited to FDA, ISO, IVDR, MDCG, and CMDCAS requirements.
  • Support the quality management system and review for approval other quality system documents as applicable.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned to enable effective functioning of the R&D department.
  • Establish technical procedures necessary to consistently execute technical processes and ensure continual compliance.

Position Responsibilities

  • Education: 
    • B.S. or higher degree in Engineering or related discipline.  
    • Background in electrical and electronics manufacturing operations
  • Experience: 
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant industry experience and IVD assay development
    • Previous experience screen printing and managing screen printing equipment.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor materials, characterization and device fabrication
  • Knowledge of structural, chemical and electrical characterization
  • Working knowledge of GMP requirements, FDA regulations, vendor-sponsor best practices, strong technical skills, and is capable of supporting infrastructure assessment and improvement.
  • Excellent organizational, writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent project management, data analysis, time management and people skills together with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to travel, including internationally, as needed.
